It's complicated.

I finally finished the last of my Christmas gifts. For Christmas 2008. It's okay, though. I've known the recipient for 20 years, and she certainly never expects her gifts on time. Can we just pretend that's part of the charm? No? Oh, fine.

These came from a book called Domiknitrix and I've been wanting to make them for a long time. I started the project once and got sidetracked midstream, decided I didn't love the yarn I was working with and shoved it all into a bag of half-finished projects that may or may not ever get finished. Perhaps I'll repurpose them. Eventually. In another life.

The magazine strikes again.

I got a new magazine in the mail the other day and found a page with felt flower pins and instructions. I'm not a huge fan of pom-poms, but I have been wanting to make some cute clips for Rory's hair. The two ideas combined to make these little flower clips. It was an ideal "I want to make something quick and easy" fix, which I needed Wednesday night. Not that I don't have plenty of things screaming at me from the "To Make" list, but none of those things only takes three minutes from start to finish. So satisfying.

The Latest Prototype

When I stood before him demanding good ideas for a gift to make for the best hair stylist ever, Andrew nonchalantly said, "You should make him a fused plastic apron or something."

The light bulb went on. So did the iron and sewing machine.

(Happy birthday, Michael!)

I'm thinking similar creations just might find their way to Etsy pretty soon. It just seems, well, practical. A grown-up take on my fused plastic bibs, eh?

(It should be noted that the gracious model was not exactly thrilled to be a) modeling and b) still wearing his church clothes.)
