I'm doing a clean out of my kitchen, which means I tend to take lots of breaks. My mom gave me this cute little votive a while ago and I wanted to light it. (Because that's more fun than cleaning the microwave.) I couldn't find anything to put it in, so I dug up a crystal candy dish and some dry pinto beans from the pantry. I kind of like it.

Now I'm trying to decide if it's creatively functional or just plain tacky.

Back From My Unintentional Hiatus

Oops. How did more than a month go by? I've been making things since the last post, I promise. I'm generally (always) behind in making birthday gifts, but I did actually have two ready on time this month!

Happy birthday to my mom (Oct. 2)! I made her the cute purse. I then immediately found some different fabric and made one for myself, too. And Rory. I love them. (Awesome tutorial from Ric Rac!)

Happy birthday to my niece, Kinsley (Oct. 17)! I gave made her a felt food sandwich and a peasant dress. I might have a giant crush on the fabric. I might have bought extra so that I can make Rory a matching dress. ("Identical cousins...") And then when she outgrows it, I might have to reclaim it and make something else. That or go buy more fabric now. Either way.
