I've been in an instant gratification mood lately and made a few things for Rory. The skirt is from an awesome old sheet. Pre-hemmed! I'll be stretching it as far as I can because I really love the design of it. Very summery. Not sure why I haven't done anything with it before. (Use it as an actual sheet? Nonsense!)

The dress is a cute little pattern that I've had for a while. It crosses in the back and wraps around. The bloomers that go with it needed a little (cough, cough) tweaking. At first try-on the waist went up to her armpits. A bit frightening. I added the bird to it and to the shirt because I can't help myself lately. Maybe the cardinal's nest outside my window is subliminal inspiration, but I'm drawn to bird stuff. On everything.

Andrew has this awesome trunk that he used at camp when he was younger. It's been sitting in our bedroom collecting dust (junk) for the better part of four years now. During our latest clean-out-the-bedroom phase, we emptied it out and rediscovered a ton of tickets, maps and brochures that we've both collected on trips overseas. Add a little (a lot) of Mod Podge and this is what we came up with . It now lives downstairs as a coffee table. The original plan was to cover all sides, but I think I like it just the way it is. I read up on decoupage and discovered that adding a coat or two of Pledge Future Shine helps to seal it and give it a harder surface.

I'm suddenly examining everything in the house to see if it would be better with a coat of Future...

Tres Manzanas

Answer: A quick project that satiated the need to "make something" (even though no less than three projects were already in progress).

Question: What is a cute set of stuffed patchwork apples?
